Profile of award winners: Lenita Dewar is a very positive 11-year-old who lives life to the fullest. A cancer survivor, she has been the local "face" of Camp Quality in recent years, playing an important role in promoting the organisation and its activities via the media. Lenita is a mentor to other children at Camp Quality, drawing on her experiences to help others. Lenita believes that she is part of a big Camp Quality family, and family looks after each other. Jenny Hilcher has always been a person who would donate to causes in any way. She does not look for recognition, but is a quiet achiever. The real winner is the community of Rockhampton, for they have a champion living and fighting for all the residents who live in the area. When most people crumble, Jenny looks forward and continues to help others. Finalists in the individual category included Kelvin and Christine Hansen; John Milne; Patricia Yocklunn and Ros Bedward. Members of the Rockhampton Harley Riders' Association have a passion for serving the community. They have supported cancer sufferers in a number of ways, including raising funds for a young leukemia patient to buy his own bike, providing "Wild Women's Rides for Breast Cancer", participating in a 'clip for cancer' to aid the local Building Fund, and raising over $100,000 for prostate cancer support. The Rockhampton Harley Riders set a fine example of what a support group is all about - mateship, trust and support. Finalists in the group category included volunteer donors, Australian Red Cross Blood Service; Scottvale Squash Ladies; and CQ University Australia.
