At The Rock, we use a range of innovative security techniques to help provide the safest and most secure Internet Banking. We’re committed to Internet Banking security, and continue to enhance our security features to meet new standards. The ways in which we protect your security are listed below.
We use 128-bit Secure Socket Layer (SSL) data encryption to help provide the best protection for your Password and account details.
A closed padlock symbol displayed in your browser confirms your Internet Banking session is encrypted. You can click on this padlock to view details of the digital signature.
The ‘https’ prefix, as opposed to the regular ‘http’ prefix in the website URL, indicates a secure connection. This means that the details you enter into the website, such as your client number and Password, will be encrypted and more secure. You can use this tip for any website that you visit where you are entering your secure access details.
Extended Validation SSL Certificates were created in response to the rise in Internet scams, and they make it easier for customers transacting online to know that the site they are using is genuine.
Our Internet Banking security meets the stringent requirements required to obtain one of these certificates. If you are using a modern web browser that supports this technology, when you access Internet Banking you will notice:
So when you see green in the address bar, you can be sure that you’re on The Rock Internet Banking - verified by an independent company.

Your Internet Banking session will automatically time-out after 5 minutes to reduce the risk of someone else using your computer if you walk away from it. This is particularly important when using public computers to do your banking. You should never leave a computer unattended when you’re logged into Internet Banking, and always remember to close the browser after logging out.
All Rock Visa Debit Cards are automatically registered for Verified by Visa (VbV). VbV is a free service which allows you to use your Visa Debit Card more securely online with participating merchants – you don’t need to do anything special, just make your purchase as normal. It provides reassurance to both you and to the merchant that you are each engaging in a genuine transaction. Unless VbV detects a certain degree of risk with your transaction, you won’t even notice it working behind the scenes to protect your card while shopping online and you won’t be interrupted on your way to the checkout.
Certain activity may seem out of the ordinary – maybe because it’s a higher dollar value transaction, or a retailer you’ve never bought from before. In these instances you may be asked to confirm some simple personal details so we can be sure the card isn't being used without your permission. Your privacy is our priority – this information is used only to verify your identity.
All you need is an Internet connection and modern browser software. If your browser hasn't been updated for a long time, or you're not sure, we recommend that you update to the latest version of your chosen browser as this will also help to protect your online security. Visit Keep your browser up-to-date for more information.
VbV is offered by thousands of online merchants around the world, and the number is growing. Look for the VbV symbol as a sign that these merchants value your business and your security.
